Need for Speed Week in Review - July 8
Original Article Here
Another week has flown by, which means a review is in order to catch up on all the things that you may have missed.
We announced the Summer of Speed, which features huge DLC discounts on a variety of Need for Speed games, including Hot Pursuit, SHIFT, and a sweet Burnout Paradise bundle. Right now this is only available on the PlayStation Store in North America.
Speaking of Burnout, a new download-only title from Criterion was introduced. Burnout CRASH! is inspired by pinball, retro music and game shows. It features three games modes and in all three the purpose is to drive into an intersection, create the most massive pile ups possible and blow up everything in sight! If you haven’t downloaded it yet, go check it out. Seriously, stop reading and go buy it. (Just kidding. Don’t stop reading, but AFTER, ok?)
In SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED news, NFSDrew took a slick Corvette Sting Ray for a Hot Lap around Ambush Canyon. After laying down a scintillating time of 1:25.886, the gauntlet had been thrown. NFSCoulter flew up to Vancouver and spent an afternoon going back and forth with Drew as they lowered the lap times, and eventually came up with a solid Track Tips video.
Team Need for Speed roared to a second place finish over the weekend, even though they were on a borrowed BMW chassis, making it that much more impressive. They remain in second in the European Championship.
Elsewhere, Fredric Aasbo is preparing for the European Drift Tour and we have a nice behind-the-scenes look at what he’s up to. This weekend’s Gatebil event is one of the largest modified car festivals in Europe and Fredric happens to be the hometown hero.
Also in Europe, we’re looking for a spokesmodel! EA and Need for Speed are conducting the 2011 “Need for Speed European Spokesmodel Search.” This European continent wide search is set to discover two women with boundless energy, an outgoing personality and an edgy style fused with a passion for cars and gaming.
There’s also a feature on Matt Powers, describing a ride-along with him and an instance where he let the photographers pit for him.
In the land of World, this week’s maintenance window provided a bug fix for the Murcielago Cop Edition and added an Audi TT RS “Vesna” with some nice vinyls and 300+hp.
We also posted a new blog for Need for Speed The Run and we might even start revealing cars next week!
The 41st edition of Ask Marc was posted today which you can watch here.
Lastly, another edition of the Need for Speed Podcast is available. The 87th episode is on iTunes, our RSS feed, and can be streamed from here. Ling joins the crew while NFSCoulter quotes Gary Coleman, discusses flipping off race cars, and NFSDrew talks muscle cars and prizes!
