A Tribute to the Cherry Blossom Festival!

With the announcement of the Cherry Blossom Community Challenge we briefly touched on the history of this traditional festival but let’s dive into a bit more detail. As you know, the cherry blossom tree holds a very prominent place in Japanese culture and tradition. Every year the bloom of the cherry blossom trees signal the start of the Cherry Blossom Festival.
In the Japanese culture this festival used to be celebrated by a series of entertaining events most often revolving around folk music, dancing and other activities. However, during every festival there has always been the tradition known as “Hana-mi” (or “Flower Watching”) and is considered to be a spiritually revitalizing activity to partake in.
Even in modern times the Nan-mi tradition is still observed but the other entertaining activities have now evolved to concerts and other musical events as well as having the streets are filled with rides and games of all different kinds for everyone to enjoy!
In tribute of this very special festival we’ve built the Mazda RX-7 RZ “Cherry Blossom” Edition! Set with a white and pink “Cherry Blossom” inspired livery that is complimented with cherry blossom graphics, aftermarket sponsor logos along the side skirts, pink window tint, and underbody neon. To further complete the livery is blacked out top surfaces (Hood, roof, trunk), a wide body kit, big gun metallic wheels and a custom “CHERRY” license plate
The Mazda RX-7-RZ itself was solely produced in a right-hand-drive configuration with a 13B-REW Twin-Turbo Double Rotary engine producing 276 horsepower with 231 lb/ft of torque. Additionally, it had lighter weight, custom wheel and an ABS upgrade. This makes it arguably one of the best handling cars ever built!
