Not your average day..

So I go to work as normal this morning. 6am start, no biggie. By 10am when my break rolls around, a manager walks into the canteen and asks if anyone wants to go help with the fund raising for the BBC Comic Relief thing we're doing this year. The supermarket I work for, Sainsbury's, is a big partner and always goes all out with ideas on how to get cash.

Well, since no-one else volunteered, I thought I'd step up, especially if it got me out of the building. I'm glad I did! Ended up spending the day with this chap...



Thats right. It's a 2 metre tall dinosaur on the back of a flatbed truck. Furthermore, it's a prop dino used in the BBC series "Walking with Dinosaurs". I don't even know how we got it, but I do know it's been getting some looks from the public as we cruise around with it. I'm hoping I'm back out again tomorrow, because it was genuinely good fun and has all been for a great cause so far.

*It's been named Darren since that's also the name of our regional manager. Think there's a hidden message there somewhere...

Day 2 went something like this...

5:20am - woke up
6:00am - started work (normal stuff)
7:25am - PR Ambassador finds me to check I'm still going with them today
8:30am - get changed & ready for collecting money
8:45am - meet the mayor of Poole & have press photos taken with other staff members
9:00am - spend a short while outside our store collecting from customers
9:20am - jump into the minibus ready to follow the dinosaur
10:25am - arrive at the first destination of the day - Castlepoint shopping centre
10:30am - have some more press photos taken, along with other staff members from the store in the shopping centre
10:45am - start harassing members of the public for their hard earned cash
11:55am - cram back into the minibus to head to the local football (soccer) club
12:35pm - arrive at AFC Bournemouth ready to badger the public again
1:30pm - yet more press arrive to take pictures
2:50pm - get told that we have complimentary tickets for the match
3:00pm - sit my backside down to get paid watching the local club
5:00pm - finish watching the local club lose to another rather awful team
6:20pm - get dropped back at my store.
