Skyrim 1.7 beta patch is now on Steam

Rub your hands together with excitement, folks. It looks like Dawnguard will be hitting our PCs soon. The Skyrim expansion came out on Xbox 360 on June 26, and Microsoft had a 30-day exclusivity deal. That means it should be hitting Steam soon, and a beta for Skyrim version 1.7 definitely hints at a confirmation of those plans.

It's a relatively small patch a few fixes and no big new features, but it does appear to tidy things up in time for Dawnguard's PC launch. Here's how to get the beta working:
1. Log into Steam.
2. Click on Steam in the upper menu.
3. Select Settings.
4. Under the Account tab, go to the Beta Participation section and select Change.
5. A drop down menu will appear. Select Skyrim Beta.
6. Select OK.
7. Steam will now restart. After Steam restarts, Skyrim will be updated to the Beta version currently available.
