SkyrimProvement: Player House Mods
I know Skyrim's all about constantly chasing that quest marker across the land, but when you're ready to take a break, wouldn't it be great to have a place to hang your horned helm that's worthy of a great adventurer with arrow-proof knees like yourself? Somewhere that makes Proudspire Manor look like a hovel? Well watch out Wicked Witches of Skyrim: the modding community has taken up this gauntlet with great gusto, and is dropping entire mansions out of the sky and into your game.
The Reserve
Without further ado, I present you a whopping great mansion right outside of Rorikstead. It's called The Reserve, and it's freakin' massive.
High ceilings are a must!
There's a grand antechamber with a few trees, some lovely banners, and three huge gates that lead into further rooms. One of which has a garden, one that serves as an armory, and a third that seems a little more cosy and homely. That one has a fireplace, a few mounted animal heads on the walls (always a comforting feature) and a bed hidden away in a corner. Just like childhood.
It's got a functioning forge, alchemy table, enchanter's desk, and even its own stable, not to mention ample storage in the forms of bookcases, chests, and if you're too lazy to bother with either of those and want to just hurl your loot in a big pile, lots of floor space. Who raised you, a dragon?
The Asteria
I can tell that's not really your style. It's too understated, far too subtle. You want people to look at you and go "Hah! The Dovahkin! I bet he lives in a freakin' giant Dwarven floating steamboat!" So alright, let's look at the giant Dwarven floating steamboat.
Best. Houseboat. Ever.
This is the Asteria, a magic ship hovering over a lake half a furlong from Riverwood, to the west. The only way up there is using a portal statue, and once you're there there's all sorts to take a gander at (although unfortunately the Dwemer telescope is for display purposes only).
Like the Reserve, it's got all the crafting tables, but it's also got flowerbeds filled with different herbs and flowers all over the place. If you are a budding alchemist you'll be able to retreat back to your floating Dwarven steamship to restock your pouches whenever you need to. It's also got plenty of mannequins and bookcases -- houses love those things.
Crystalis
But wait, this is still a little too drab for you? Not quite otherworldy enough? You once saw Superman and that Fortress of Solitude that he had looked pretty nice, right? Ostentatious, maybe, but still.
Beware of floating Brandos
Alright, alright. Here's Crystalis , situated a short trip north of Winterfell. It's made out of giant magical crystals. You're welcome.
What's that? Crafting tables don't impress you anymore? How about crystal crafting tables? Yeah, that's right. Then there's a Temple room full of shrines so you can get your blessings and cure your diseases. And, for the little tyrant in you, there's a whopping great crystal throne -- It's got its own dais and everything.
And that better make you happy, because I can't top that.
